Summary

NeoDicta is a local, on-device dictation tool. Your speech and the resulting text are processed entirely on your Mac and are never sent to us or to any third party. We run no telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs.

Audio processing

• Audio is captured and transcribed on-device using local speech-to-text models on Apple Silicon.
• No audio ever leaves your machine.
• Audio buffers are processed in memory and discarded immediately after transcription.
• Any temporary files written during processing are deleted immediately afterwards.

When NeoDicta uses the network

NeoDicta is designed to avoid the network. For full transparency, these are the only cases where the app connects out:

• First-run model download — speech-to-text models are downloaded once from Hugging Face the first time you use them, then run fully offline.
• Software updates — optional update checks via the Sparkle framework. You can disable automatic update checks in the app.
• Your dictation, transcripts, dictionary, and settings are never uploaded in any of these cases.

License validation

Your license is verified offline on your device using a cryptographic public key embedded in the app. Validating or activating your license never contacts our servers and never transmits your dictation content.

Data storage

• Your personal dictionary and application settings are stored in a local SQLite database on your Mac and never leave your machine.
• Your license, if any, is stored securely in the macOS Keychain on your device.
• You can delete this data at any time by removing the application's Application Support folder.

Permissions

NeoDicta requests the following macOS permissions, used exclusively for the features described and never to collect or transmit data:

• Microphone — capturing speech for local transcription.
• Accessibility — inserting transcribed text into the frontmost application.
• Input Monitoring — detecting your global dictation hotkey.

Purchases

Payments are processed by our reseller and Merchant of Record, Lemon Squeezy, which handles checkout, billing, and tax compliance. To issue and support your license we receive your email address and order details; we never receive or store your payment-card data. Lemon Squeezy's handling of payment data is governed by their own privacy policy.
